About us

We are a lively group of senior citizens who are not afraid to experiment with the latest entertainment technology called computer games.

Our eyesight and our ability to react quickly may no longer be as sharp as they were in our younger years. But that doesn't stop us from devoting ourselves to this electronic pastime with enthusiasm and dedication. We sit together on comfortable sofas, enjoy our favorite drinks and snacks, and immerse ourselves in the virtual worlds offered to us by these computer games.

We are committed to ensuring that there are separate competitions for our age groups (over 70, over 80, over 90). Not because we don't want to compete with the younger players, but because we believe there should be a place for different skills and speeds in the game. Our playing skills may not be as nimble as the younger ones, but our endurance and strategic thinking are unbeatable.

We used to try games like Tetris and Snake, which are reduced to angular shapes and simple movements. Current 3D games are a lot more complex and require more practice. But we will not be deterred and are ready to face these new challenges...

Wait a minute, my grandson is now writing for us:

Hello, gamer community! We are the Elektronische-Dings-Spielkreis. Our K/D ratio may not be the best, our click speed may be at low speed, and we regularly do the infamous face check with the level boss. But hey! We are living proof that gaming is not a question of age.

Our reaction time may hinder our high scores, but it doesn't stop us from picking up the controllers and gaming until our thumbs bleed. With our radiant canopies we sit on cozy sofas, surrounded by beer bottles, popcorn bowls and pizza boxes, and really let it rip. 1v1 against the pacemaker, who knows?

We attach great importance to setting up our own leagues, namely over-70s, over-80s and over-90s. Sure, our reflexes are more attuned to the pace of an RPG than a first-person shooter, but we believe there should be fair competition where we can use our experience and wisdom instead of just relying on quick fingers .

We started in the good old days when Tetris and Snake were hardcore and not those overhyped 3D first person shooters. But we understand that our pixel stacking skills can only take us so far and we need to adapt. We're always ready to jump into new levels, even if we sometimes mess up the crosshair adjustment and run into the busy areas of the map too often.

But, you know what? Just because we're noobs in this new age of gaming doesn't mean we're giving up. On the contrary, we look forward to conquering the world of esports, at our own pace of course. We dream of creating the first Senior World Gaming Championship where we can showcase our tactical skills and decades of gaming experience.

So who's coming along on this exciting journey? Unpack your joysticks and VR headsets, put aside your dentures and let's show that gamers never grow old - they just level up! Welcome to the Elektronische-Dings-Spielkreis! GG, WP!
